Most companies strive to operate in an ethical manner and espouse a commitment to values such as honesty, integrity and trust. A code of conduct, also commonly referred to as a code of ethics, is a written set of principles that typically works in conjunction with an organization’s mission statement to clearly identify expectations regarding appropriate behavior. In effect, the code serves as a type of ethical roadmap for employees, management, vendors and stakeholders to following approaches to better enable an organization’s employees to avoid and better address ethical challenges and strengthen organizational integrity.
