Florida’s “Stop WOKE Act”

Florida House Bill 7 (“HB7,” “the Act,” or “The Stop WOKE Act”) went into effect on July 1, 2022. This law, commonly referred to as the “Stop WOKE Act,” is intended to increase employer liability for discriminatory employment practices under the Florida Civil Rights Act. Specifically, HB7 imposes increased liability on employers who conduct workplace training that “promotes, advances, insinuates, or compels” employees to believe certain concepts constitute unlawful discrimination.
